DuraShields toughness makes it so durable that it can withstand
industrial abuse that would break down most rubbers, plastics, and
even metals. The durability of DuraShield makes a longer life time
and less maintenance and downtime.

There are two kinds of DuraShield formulas, ether-based and
ester-based. It would depend on the application as to which one you
would use. Both types are available in different durometers.
Generally recommended are continuous service temperatures ranging
from –30 F° to + 180 F°.

Application Data  
Problem:
Severe wear in the underflow launder for hydro-cyclones used in the phosphate mining industry to seperate fine sand, clay and trash from the water used to transport the ore through the benefication process. The underflow discharge make-up is a varying amount of water with a high concentration of solid particles having a high circular velocity. Upon leaving the exit nozzle of the cyclone it is traveling in a circular pattern that is expanding rapidly due to centrifugal force. The solid particles hit the side-walls with an impact angle of 15° to 20° when operating at its most efficient rate. When operating "heavy" (excess solids to water) the discharge stream looks like tooth past out of tube pointing straight down. It makes minimal contact with the walls. This condition cannot be maintained as it will choke-up the cyclone. When operating "light" (excess water to solid) the impact angle can go as high as 60 ° + with the hard solids going at high speed micro-scopically chipping all the normal hard wear resistant materials i.e. WC, AL2O3 Ceramic, Alotec-92, SIC and AR-400 Steel.

Durashield Urethane on both side and end walls starting at approx. 6" above the bottom of exit cone and going down to floor of launder.
Usse Alotec 92 on the bottom and inside the discharge pipe. DuraShield Urethane is elastic enough to absorb the high energy solids and they bounce off. DuraShield Urethane has been in operation since 2002 with only minimal wear.
