DuraCast is a castable alumina–zirconia-silica refractory which exhibits low
thermal conductivity and excellent
abrasion resistance.
Most refractory materials that demonstrate good thermal conductivity properties have reduced service life due to problems caused by thermal cycling and their
inability to resist abrasion.
Refractories also experience obstacles due to long storage periods or moisture exposure. Due
to the AZS grain structure DuraCast, its low
thermal conductivity and high abrasion resistance characteristics are
elevated to a level unattainable in other heavyweight castable
refractories containing alumina grains.
DuraCast is also stable under normal storage conditions.
It is far the most effective alternative to reducing abrasion and wear in high
temperature environments. Better resistance to abrasive wear means considerable savings and improved productivity.
